Tumbbad 2 Officially Announced: Nawazuddin Siddiqui Joins Sohum Shah for the Epic Horror Sequel

Hashtar is back, and this time, the greed might bring the apocalypse! Fans of Indian horror have been waiting years for this moment, and it is finally here. Tumbbad 2 is officially in production.

On April 7, 2026, the makers held a grand mahurat ceremony in Mumbai to kick off the shoot for the highly anticipated sequel. With a massive new production house, a chilling motion poster, and a legendary new cast member, the stakes have never been higher. Here is everything you need to know about the Tumbbad 2 movie announcement!

"Pralay Aayega": The Chilling First Motion Poster

To celebrate the start of filming, the makers dropped a spine-tingling motion poster that instantly broke the internet.

The teaser features a terrifying visual of the idol of "Poorti Ki Devi" (The Goddess of Fulfillment) accompanied by a dark, ominous tagline: “प्रलय आयेगा” (Pralay Aayega / The Apocalypse Will Come). While the first movie focused heavily on one family's personal greed and the curse of Hastar, this new tagline suggests that Tumbbad 2 will tackle a much larger, catastrophic threat that could destroy the entire world.

The Star Cast: Nawazuddin Siddiqui Joins the Madness

The original film rested heavily on the brilliant shoulders of Sohum Shah (who played Vinayak Rao). Sohum Shah is officially returning to lead the sequel, but he is not alone this time.

In a massive casting coup, Bollywood powerhouse Nawazuddin Siddiqui has joined the cast of Tumbbad 2. According to reports, Nawazuddin will be playing a principal, multi-layered character. The prospect of seeing two incredible actors like Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui face off in this dark, mythical universe has fans incredibly hyped.

Bigger Sets and a Director Change

Tumbbad 2 is scaling up significantly. Pen Studios (the massive production house behind blockbusters like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi) has stepped in to co-produce the film alongside Sohum Shah Films. Reports reveal that a massive 7 to 8-acre set has been built in Mumbai for the initial shoot, proving that the sequel will be grander in every way.

However, there is a major change behind the camera. Adesh Prasad (who co-directed and wrote the first film) is taking the helm as the sole director for the sequel. The original director, Rahi Anil Barve, is not involved in Tumbbad 2 due to creative differences, though he has publicly sent his best wishes to the team.

Tumbbad 2 Expected Release Date

Since the movie officially went on floors in April 2026, production and the heavy VFX work required for the film will take several months. While an exact date hasn't been locked in yet, industry insiders expect Tumbbad 2 to hit theatres in late 2026.
