They are making a huge movie with a budget of around ₹800 crore, so the actors are being paid a lot of money. Deepika Padukone is a big star, especially for Hindi-speaking audiences, so she’s getting paid a high amount.
Reports say Deepika Padukone is charging about ₹20 to ₹25 crore for her role in Raaka. This makes her one of the highest-paid actresses in India right now.
But this has also started an online debate about pay differences. Actor Allu Arjun, who is the main lead, is reportedly earning around ₹175 crore, plus a share of the film’s profits. That means Deepika is earning about seven times less than him.
Another actress in the film, Rashmika Mandanna, is reportedly charging around ₹5 to ₹7 crore for her role. Because the actors alone are being paid so much, the director Atlee is under a lot of pressure. The movie now needs to become a huge box-office hit to justify these big costs.
